Operation Warm

PITTSBURGH (11/02/2004) - On October 27, 2004, "Operation Warm" was held at the Civic Arena. Not only did the children receive coats, they received their coats in Penguin tote bags with a Penguin bobblehead, hockey puck bank, Penguin sunglasses and other cool Penguin merchandise. The children visited the Penguin's Locker Room and learned about hockey with the help of the Penguin's head coach and former player, Eddie Olczyk. They also were able to see how players have to put on their equipment. Then, the "Operation Warm" staff had an area to decorate your own pumpkin! The children had a blast choosing different materials for their pumpkin. One child even had Eddie Olczyk autograph theirs. "Scoop," the mascot for Bruster's Ice Cream was there serving up some hugs and some ice cream too! All in all, everyone had a wonderful time at the event.
