Governor Rendell Awards $800,000 for Early Education

PITTSBURGH (03/10/2005) - On March 8, 2005, Governor Rendell visited the 4 Kids Center in Braddock to present the $800,000 grant. The Foundation received the grant because of 4 Kids success in early education. Many were on hand including Senators Costa and Logan, whom Governor Rendell said made the grant possible for 4 Kids and Heritage Health. The program has served approiximately 1500 children since its opening in September 1998. Studies show, being in a program like 4 Kids greatly reduces special education services, tutoring and other assistance programs in the futures of children. Giving children a jumpstart in the early developmental years is very important for the lifelong success. 4 Kids and Heritage Health have proven that early education is valuable and necessary in our country.
